Earlier today Nintendo released information regarding Tetris DS?s 6 multiplayer and single player game modes. Every game mode in Tetris DS is based upon one of six infamous characters (Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Samus, Yoshi, and Balloon Fighter) in the Nintendo franchise. The game modes are as listed below:
Touch: Requires the stylus and touch screen for players to drag and flip the Tetriminos to form horizontal lines. Players have no time limit. This figures to be very different from most of the other frantic modes in Tetris DS.
Standard: The original game that has been so popular over the last thirty years is back. This time Mario runs through the worlds of Super Mario Bros. as you complete horizontal lines to vanquish Tetriminos.
Catch: This Metroid inspired mode requires players to guide their blocks through metroid infested levels and gather blocks to form a 4×4 square. When formed, the square will explode in all directions giving players bonus points.
Puzzle: Players have to use the blocks they?re assigned to complete over 50 puzzle-themed Tetris levels. There is not a time limit for this game mode.
Push: The goal of Push is to clear more than one line at a time. With every line cleared opponent?s screens will go down forcing them into a ?red zone.? If a players screen gets to full of blocks then it?s game over.
Mission: This Legend of Zelda inspired game mode, challenges players to complete missions before the time runs out. If you fail to complete the mission in time, a heap of new blocks will fall and if you?re not quick will end your game.
Up to 10 players can clash and play Tetris with the DS download and play functionality, and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will enable up to four players to play remotely. Look for Tetris DS on March 20th, until then check back with MyGamer for updates.
