Probably one of the most shocking announcements to come out of the world of video gaming in recent memory was that of Greg Costikyan boldly proclaiming to the world that not only was he fed up with the corporate business model of the gaming industry, but that he was going to actually fight back. For a long time, Costikyan has expressed his extreme displeasure with the state of the video game industry. He lit his first Molotov cocktail of suppressed developer rage when he authored the Scratchware Manifesto (which can be found at http://www.the-underdogs.org/scratch.php), under the pseudonym of Designer X, which stated, with all the subtlety of a BFG9000, exactly what he believes is wrong with the game industry today:
