In reality, gun control will always be a globally contentious issue. Thankfully, though, it is not an issue we ever need worry about in the world of videogames. The bigger, badder, and better the weapon, the cooler it is. Videogame characters have been using weaponry to achieve their goals (and yours) ever since the dawn of software, and their evolving arsenals have only become ever more impressive. Wasting baddies has never been easier, or more fun, thanks to the following list of weapons that I think deserve a place on MyGamer’s hallowed Top-Ten list:
10: Gravity Gun (Half-Life 2)
The Gravity Gun is Gordon Freeman’s latest gadget of destruction. The unique thing about this weapon is its ability to manipulate environmental objects. It has two functions, the first of which allows you to pick up an object and then send it hurtling through the air at a high velocity (or alternatively you can just drop it.) The second function allows you to shoot a beam of energy at an object to duly propel it forward, much like the first function but without having to pick it up. Both of these functions confirm the weapon status of the Gravity Gun, but it also has more practical uses. For example, holding onto a barrel allows for a portable shield, or you can stack boxes in order to gain access to a high ledge. The Gravity Gun is a revolutionary weapon in the sense that it allows for more strategic gameplay while still giving the player an option between charging forward, guns a-blazing and objects flying, or to take it easy through a slower, more stealthy approach.
