Titanfall Preview

The sci-fi futuristic shooter comes out on March 14, 2014 and is rumored to have an open beta released later this month.  Titanfall’s preview at E3 last year had a lot of excitement among gamers as they saw a game that stepped beyond the boundaries of any shooter. Over at E3,  the game won over 60 E3 development critic awards and that included six record breaking ones.

Multiplayer/Story:

The multiplayer and the story are all online, having the story mode being integrated with the multiplayer.

Multiplayer  will be fought with 12 human players in a 6 vs. 6 PvP format, although there will be up to 36 AI players that will eventually add up to 48 players in one match.  Players can choose on whether to fight in a titan or on foot.

Players fighting on foot can jump and jetpack from building to building and attain the ability to become more agile based on their current momentum. Foot soldiers receive special abilities that titans do not have, although Respawn has not released much more information about this subject.

Players that choose to fight in titans can have special access to certain weapons and abilities based on the titan they choose. Some of these different titan classes mentioned by Respawn include the agile Atlas, the ponderous Ogre, and the nimble Stryder; More titans will be added to the final game.

The story is set in the future that is in the middle of a war between the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and the Militia.  Many different modes come with the story as there is the Attrition mode. This mode involves hostage rescuers against defensive kidnappers. In addition this mode involves the militia faction defending against the IMC for resource use.

Gameplay:

The game will be built on the Source engine, a smart choice for Respawn as many fluid mechanics and gameplay can be implemented onto the game. The multiplayer and the story are all online, having the story mode being integrated with the multiplayer.

Footsoilders can double bounce from building to building, but they can also jump onto friendly and enemy titans. One the foot solider has jumped onto a friendly titan, the player sits on the back of It and proceeds to aid the titan in killing enemies. In contrast, when the foot solider sits on a enemies titan, the foot solider can rip out the cranium control unit of the titan and destroy it.

Players have the ability to transfer guns and ammo to each other. Players can shoot rockets at friendly titans and those titans can absorb the rockets and sore them as ammo or choose to fire them. Players can do the same concept, but only with guns.

Guns can shoot around corners and at multiple targets, this is a new mechanic added to any fururistic shooter. In addition, there will be no “Qucik Scoping” within the game as Respawn has released a mechanic that will prevent such action.
