Independent video game developer hajo releases old school twin-stick arcade shooter Space Dance today in Early Access on Steam.
Space Dance is a fast, tightly-controlled twin stick shooter presented in a colorful retro style. Individual gameplay rounds are short at 2-3 minutes. The unique link-gun mechanic allows players to connect enemies with each other, resulting in a messy, wonderfully chaotic group dance ceremony that becomes increasingly difficult to survive.
“I have great memories of playing Metal Slug in the arcade. Even though it’s old, it responds so quickly that you always feel in control. But these days, most controller games stutter along at 30 fps, have motion blur all over the place and the controls feel like swimming through butter”, says Hajo Nils Krabbenhöft, lead developer at hajo, “which is why we put a lot of effort into making Space Dance controls as fast, tight, and precise as an arcade machine”.
Space Dance uses Steam leaderboards so that players can share their scores among the Community. The game will launch at an affordable $0.99 with price hikes planned for each content upgrade. The full version of the game will contain at least 4 additional game modes with more songs, more enemies and special area effects. The second game mode, called “Assault”, is planned for the end of July.
