Proving that the WWII FPS genre hasn’t been milked dry just yet, CDV Software announced that Ubersoldier, a title focusing on a reanimated super-soldier fighting in WWII, will arrive for the PC in March ’06. The obviously nonhistorical title will nevertheless feature an arsenal of “historically based” weaponry along with supernatural powers granted to the genetically modified hero.
“UberSoldier’s high quality graphics, dynamic physics engine and realistic rag-doll effects will offer players an affordably-priced yet high-quality game experience,” stated company spokesperson, Mario Kroll. “We believe that UberSoldier will provide a fun, fast-paced alternative to CDV’s traditionally more cerebral game offering, thus complementing CDV’s impressive 2006 line-up extremely well.”
While the concept sounds like the result of an alcohol-fueled brainstorming session, early screenshots look fairly impressive for what’s expected to be a budget title.
