Ubisoft will be adding to the long list of titles in the Might & Maic franchise by announcing the development of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, the second Might & Magic title with Ubisoft after the company aquired the franchise brand back in 2003. Dark Messiah of Might & Magic is a unique first person action game for the PC.
Ubisoft seems to be tight lipped at the moment on much info about the game but has gone to desribe Dark Messiah as the first fantasy-action game to fully ultilize a first person combat system.
The development team that will be behind Dark Messiah is Arkane Studios, the creators of the Arx Fatalis game. With the new partnership to use Valve?s Source Engine, the engine that made Half-Life 2, Arkane Studios has many possibilites as to what they can do and achieve with this title because as we saw with Half-Life 2, it was quite amazing.
“It is a very comfortable feeling for a developer to be able to concentrate on the content of its game and have access to a set of stunning features and capabilities,” said Raphael Colantonio, CEO of Arkane Studios. “Source is solid, performant [sic] and extremely complete in terms of the amount of innovative features. But more important, it is also open and flexible enough to allow us to build creatively upon, without having to bare the technological risks. Working with Valve is not only a fan’s dream, but also an excellent opportunity to be one of the fortunate developers in the world to benefit from the Source engine’s most impressive features.”
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic has a scheduled release time for the 2006 summer season and will be shown for the first time at the Games Convention in Germany on August 17, 2005.
Look back for future news and media of the game coming soon.
