A British consumer website, Computer & Video Games, is claiming advanced knowledge that Nintendo will be releasing a separate Ethernet Kit for the Wii to allow those without a wireless connection to use the consoles online capabilities. Although no official announcement has been made, the price and availability remain to be seen.
Nintendo took a different road than Microsoft in releasing the Wii with a wireless internet adapter included, but left no other options for those without Wi-Fi at home. Hopefully, the Wi-Fi adapter for the Wii will be easier to find than the Nintendo DSs which has been very difficult to find at retailers.
While an Ethernet adapter may come to most as no big surprise, it further reinforces Nintendo’s commitment to the online aspect of this generation. Also, with no real concrete details on the console’s online features this takes us one step closer to seeing exactly what Nintendo has been cooking up.
