Xbox 360 Goes Down Under

While the Xbox 360 launch in Japan didn't fair so well, the American and European launches were much more productive.  Now, after what some are calling the most successful system launch in Australia, Microsoft can give itself another pat on the back.

According to news reports, the Xbox 360 sold 10,000 systems on its March 23rd midnight launch.  Microsoft then sold another 20,000 systems over the next three days with an average of 2.6 games sold with each system purchase.  The 30,000 units sold tops the previous launch sales record by about 3,000 units which was held by Sony's PSP handheld system.  Unfortunately though, Microsoft still seems to be suffering from the slow production problems that plagued the US and European 360 launches.  While 30,000 units for Australia is certainly something to be proud of, it could've been even better if production would've ran smoothly with an estimated 15,000 preorders not being able to be fulfilled.
