Early this morning, Nintendo announced that their highly anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has been delayed until 2006. The developers need the extra time to make the game better. More levels, more depth, and every other aspect of the game will be worked on to make Twilight Princess the best it can be.
Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America?s vice president of corporate affairs, stated, ?We?re announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31st). We?ll provide a specific date at a later point in time? it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller.?
There may be more to the delay than meets the eye. Perhaps Nintendo is postponing the game as a deterrent against the release of Microsoft?s Xbox 360 which is also set for a November launch. However, this leaves Nintendo without a major holiday release.
Eiji Aonuma, who directed the development of Majora?s Mask, is also directing Twilight Princess. Unlike the cartooned world of Wind Waker, Link?s newest adventure will take place in a realistic alternate dark/shadow environment. A young 17-year-old Link will transform into a wolf when passing through the Twilight realm. This game obtained high praise from this year?s E3 by fans and critics. The delay will strike fans extremely hard, but it is with the best intentions. Good things will come for those who wait.
